The multi-purpose book EMT-Basic: Pearls of Wisdom written by Guy Haskell and Robert C. Krause, contains a plethora of information in digestible pieces. Not only does the book contain valuable information based on the authors’ actual experiences, but it breaks down vital information into lessons for the reader to memorize and know. EMT-Basic is written in such a way that the reader will be able to refer to it again and again. The book covers the basics from preparatory to trauma to infants and children, and provides an excellent overview for someone studying to be in the emergency medical technician field, an EMT needing a refresher course, or for an instructor teaching a basic EMT course.
Krause and Haskell do not stop with the experiences and lessons; they ask more of their reader with a rapid-fire question and answer approach. Quizzes (with answers) are throughout the book, requiring that one learns (or is refreshed with information) as one reads. In fact, the quizzes are set up in such a way that the reader is placed in the shoes of an EMT and must make decisions on how to act in specific instances.
EMT-Basic: Pearls of Wisdom is true to its name in that it provides the reader with nuggets of information priceless to an EMT. |
